Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition Details Revealed With Enhanced Features
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition will be available digitally on 30 July 2026 with significant technical enhancements and unique gameplay content for Nintendo Switch 2 owners. The enhanced edition includes 4K resolution in TV mode, 1080p in handheld mode, 60fps gameplay, the new Merc Assault battle mode, the exclusive Rare Blade MOMO, and new outfit styles for Pyra and Mythra.
New Gameplay Features and Performance Upgrades
Nintendo Switch 2 players will benefit from smoother performance and sharper visuals across the adventure in Alrest. The game targets 60 frames per second in both TV and handheld modes, with 4K output available on compatible televisions. Cutscenes have also been upgraded with improved resolution, frame rates and visual quality.
Merc Assault is a brand-new action battle mode where players can control up to six Blades directly during missions and switch between them at any time. A new Special Gauge lets players unleash powerful Special Arts during combat.
The update also introduces MOMO, an exclusive Rare Blade from the Xenosaga series. Players are free to switch MOMO between Real Mode and Imaginary Mode, which changes both her appearance and elemental affinity. She also comes with a dedicated Blade Quest called The Home of the Soul, which becomes available during the adventure.
Upgrade Options and Availability
Players who already own the original Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Nintendo Switch can purchase a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack instead of buying the full game again. However, the enhanced features are only available when playing on Nintendo Switch 2. Using the game card on the original Nintendo Switch launches the standard version without the new improvements.
Nintendo has also confirmed that Torna – The Golden Country benefits from the Switch 2 enhancements. Owners of the physical version will receive a free software update on 30 July 2026, while Expansion Pass owners must purchase the Switch 2 upgrade pack to access 4K and 60fps support.
Players can unlock new costume designs for Pyra and Mythra through gameplay or by scanning their compatible amiibo figures. The digital edition launches on 30 July 2026, while the physical edition is scheduled to arrive on 1 October 2026.
