Genshin Impact Version 7.0 Special Program Preview Reveals New Characters and Regions
Genshin Impact Version 7.0 will launch on August 12, 2026, bringing the highly anticipated Snezhnaya region with the “Everwinter Without Mercy” update. HoYoverse confirmed that the new version will introduce fresh characters, new gameplay systems, major lore reveals, and story content connected to the Tsaritsa and the future of Teyvat. The update is expected to be one of the biggest expansions since the game’s release in 2020.
Snezhnaya is the seventh major nation of Teyvat and the home of the Fatui, who have influenced many major events throughout Genshin Impact’s storyline. The frozen region is facing extreme conditions, including worsening snowstorms and energy shortages. Players will also be able to explore the capital city Snezhnograd, for the first time in the game, with a train-based transportation system.
The update will feature a new playable characters: Odette and Alyosha. Odette is a 5 star Cryo sword user and a member of the Fatui. Alyosha is a support type character that provides healing and reaction buffs. The first banner will feature Odette, Alyosha, and Arlecchino’s rerun, while the second phase will include Flins and Ineffa reruns.
New Combat Features and Snezhnaya Story Expansion
Version 7.0 introduces the new Stellar Glimmer reaction system, adding more depth to elemental combat. The new Stellar Swirl reaction, created through Cryo and Anemo combinations, generates a Stellar Vortex that deals additional damage. Stellar-Conduct reactions can create Polestar Fields that increase Cryo and Electro damage while reducing enemy resistance.
Players will also unlock the Cryo abilities of the Traveler by resonating with the Tsaritsa’s Statue of the Seven. A new Traveler weapon will be connected to the main story and will become stronger as more Statues are unlocked in Snezhnaya.
Another major addition is the introduction of third-person shooting gameplay through Shadow Realm challenges. Players can use firearms, take cover, slide, and customize weapons with different attachments. The new Eye of Graeae gadget will help travelers survive the region’s freezing environment, create structures using Prime Ice, and interact with the world in new ways.
The update is also going to offer more insight into the Tsaritsa, who has had her schemes shaping the story since Genshin Impact launched. Her goal of collecting Gnoses and challenging the powers controlling Teyvat has been carried out through the Fatui Harbingers.
New enemies such as Ronova, the Shade of Death, along with the Chimeric Winged Lion and Immortal Construct, will provide fresh challenges. Version 7.0 will also add new events, quests, weapon skins, artifact sets, and system improvements, making Snezhnaya a major turning point for Genshin Impact’s future.
