Why you have not received your August SSI payment
SSI benefits are generally paid on the first of each month. But if that date comes on a weekend or a federal holiday, the Social Security Administration pushes the payment to the preceding working day.
Because Saturday, August 1, 2026 comes on a Saturday, eligible recipients will get their August benefit on Friday, July 31, 2026. That means claimants will get two SSI payments in July (one on July 1 and another on July 31) but no additional payment in August. This change in scheduling does not lower the overall amount of benefits handed out in a year.
Who is impacted by the payment schedule change
The change in schedule only affects Supplemental Security Income (SSI) users. SSI is a programme that provides financial support to older adults and those with disabilities who have limited income and resources.
Regular Social Security retirement payments, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), and survivor benefits are unaffected. If you are qualified for SSI, your next regularly scheduled payment will be made on September 1, 2026, for the July 31 deposit. Retirees, SSDI and survivor recipients will continue to get paid throughout August according to the normal SSA schedule.
