Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Jeana Keough tongue cancer news is on the radar of fans as her family confirmed that she has been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue. The reality TV star is undergoing intense treatment after doctors discovered the cancer had spread beyond the original tumour.
How Jeana Keough Discovered She Had Cancer
She thought the sore was from irritation from a tooth. Her family said she first noticed a sore on her tongue that was painful. When the discomfort didn’t go away after several months, doctors took a biopsy which confirmed tongue cancer.
She later had surgery to remove the tumour, but further testing revealed the cancer had spread to nearby lymph nodes. Her medical team therefore recommended a combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and immunotherapy as the best chance for recovery.
New Challenges from Therapy
It’s been hard on my body. Keough has been experiencing severe pain, fatigue and difficulty eating or drinking, as swallowing has become painful, family members said. These side effects have made everyday life a lot harder as she focuses on her recovery.
It also has placed a strain on us financially. Keough is in real estate and works on commission, which means she has been unable to work during treatment. Her daughter Kara Keough Bosworth has organised a GoFundMe to help with medical and living expenses, and fans and members of the Bravo community have been showing their support.

Keough is one of the original cast members of The Real Housewives of Orange County when the series premiered back in 2006. Following the announcement, several former castmates including Vicki Gunvalson and Tamra Judge took to social media to publicly share messages of encouragement. Bravo host Andy Cohen also participated in the fundraiser, noting the continued support Keough receives from friends and longtime viewers.
Her family says she is positive despite the tough treatment schedule and appreciates the overwhelming response from supporters.
