Modern Warfare 4 Beta Release Date and Platforms
Activision announced a two-part beta for Modern Warfare 4. The first phase is the Early Access Beta which will run from August 21 to August 25. Players who pre-order the game or have a beta code will be able to access this early test.
Early Access will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Digital pre-orders will provide automatic access, allowing players to join without needing a separate code.
The second phase will be the Open Beta, scheduled from August 28 to September 1. Unlike Early Access, this weekend will be available to everyone, even players who have not pre-ordered Modern Warfare 4.
The Open Beta will expand support to Nintendo Switch 2, making it the first time a Call of Duty multiplayer beta will be playable on Nintendo’s new console platform. Players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2 will be able to experience the game during this period.
Call of Duty: NEXT will take place on August 21 and will act as the main multiplayer showcase before launch. The event will feature live gameplay, developer discussions, detailed multiplayer information, and new reveals from Infinity Ward.
New Multiplayer Features and What to Expect from Players
The Modern Warfare 4 beta lets players get their hands on some new features before the worldwide release. Activision confirmed the beta will feature 19 weapons, multiple maps, game modes, Operators, perks and killstreaks.
Players will get to experience the new adaptive Kill Block mode, all about rapid and changing combat situations. Modes such as Search & Destroy, 3v3 Gunfight duels and larger tactical engagements with vehicles will also be returning in the beta.
A new Training Mobility Course will also be available for players to help them understand the new movement mechanics in Modern Warfare 4. The beta will give fans their first major opportunity to test gameplay changes, including movement improvements, visual upgrades, and refined combat systems.
The announcement comes after Modern Warfare 4’s appearance at Fanatics Fest, where selected creators showcased the first multiplayer gameplay. While some fans enjoyed the more action-packed feel, others were concerned about the faster movement speed and quicker pace of combat.
