Country music legend Dolly Parton is mourning her family once again after her older brother, Coy “Denver” Parton, died at the age of 82. The heartbreaking news arrives a little more than a year after Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, died, adding another emotional chapter in the life of the legendary singer and her family.

Coy Parton died July 23, 2026 in Sevierville, Tennessee, according to multiple reports. The family did not disclose a cause of death, but said a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Coy was not as well known as his sister and he led a quiet life away from the entertainment world. The loss is all the more painful given the fact that it comes just over a year after the death of Dolly Parton’s husband Carl Dean, who died in March 2025 at the age of 82 after a long illness.
In recent interviews, Dolly has been frank about how difficult it is without her husband of nearly six decades. She said work, faith and support from loved ones have helped her cope with grief while she continues her music, business ventures and upcoming Broadway musical. Once again the singer is dealing with the death of a close family member, having lost her brother.
