Ferrari Luce Debuts as Performance Focused Electric Vehicle for a New Generation
The Luce marks a new era for Ferrari, its first all-electric production car. The model unveiled in May 2026 doesn’t only swap a combustion engine for batteries. This is another take on the Ferrari experience, mixing tremendous speed, innovative chassis technology and daily spaciousness in a five-seat, four-door body. Ferrari’s electric car sets new performance standard
The Luce is all about Ferrari’s electric-vehicle performance. Its four-motor all-wheel drive system delivers 1,035 horsepower and is said to reach 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds. Ferrari also cites a top speed of 192 mph. The 122-kWh battery is expected to offer a range of over 330 miles on the European WLTP cycle, while the 800-volt electrical architecture enables fast charging and consistent performance.
Four Motors – Precision on Every Wheel
The Luce has an electric motor at each wheel, allowing its control systems greater ability to distribute power according to grip, road conditions and driver input. Ferrari uses this concept with torque vectoring, a virtual differential, four-wheel steering and dynamic suspension.
These technologies are meant to help you gain agility, stability and control of your body. They might also make the big EV feel more like a focused performance car, rather than a traditional luxury sedan.
The battery is integrated into the vehicle frame, improving chassis rigidity and reducing the centre of gravity. Ferrari says the centre of gravity of the Luce is 95mm lower than that of the Purosangue and almost 95% of its components are new. That seems it was designed as an electric Ferrari from the start, rather than being converted from an existing petrol basis.
Radical Design Leaves Room for Five
Rather than sticking with the classic mid-engine supercar shape, Ferrari built a low, aerodynamic five-door body with rear-hinged doors and room for five. The Luce’s unorthodox proportions mean it offers greater passenger space, more storage space and more aerodynamic efficiency without turning into an ordinary SUV.
The appearance and interior of the car were designed by Ferrari in collaboration with LoveFrom, the design group set up by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson. The partnership provides the Luce a distinctive identity aimed to appeal to upscale shoppers with a penchant for technology.
Digital Technology Meets Physical Controls
Inside, the cabin has modern displays paired with well-executed physical controls. The steering wheel is three-spoke, made from recycled aluminium, temperature functions are managed by tactile switches and the centre console features large amounts of glass.
This middle-of-the-road strategy might appeal to drivers who desire modern electronics without cramming every key function onto a touchscreen menu. It also makes it safer and more intuitive to operate while driving.
Authentic Sound Petrol Engine Free
Ferrari has figured out one of the major questions around an electric performance car: the sound. The Luce does not have a fake V8 or V12 engine, but rather a sophisticated mechanism that enhances the true vibrations of its electric motor.
The idea is to have a recognisable electric Ferrari character, but with a sound that is related to the physics of what the car is doing.
A Ferrari for New Customers
The Luce is still quite elite and is said to cost €550,000. But its practical layout, tech-filled cabin and electric powertrain could widen Ferrari’s appeal beyond typical collectors.
Orders were coming from established Ferrari owners and new clients, CEO Benedetto Vigna stated. The Luce does not replace the automaker’s V6, V8 or V12 offerings. Instead, it provides an additional performance alternative for a new generation of luxury electric vehicle customers.
