Dutton Ranch Season 2 is officially moving forward after Paramount+ renewed the Yellowstone sequel series, but the biggest change isn’t just in the cast. While Jai Courtney is not expected to return after his character Rob-Will Jackson was killed in the Season 1 finale, the series is also entering a new chapter with Benjamin Cavell taking over as showrunner following Chad Feehan’s exit.
Season 2 to Continue Beth and Rip’s Story
The first season premiered in May 2026 and became Paramount+’s biggest original series launch, drawing nearly 12.9 million viewers. The success prompted the streamer to renew the show even before the Season 1 finale aired. However, production on the new season has not started yet and is expected to begin in early 2027, with the premiere likely arriving later in 2027 or possibly in 2028.
Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser are confirmed to return as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, while Finn Little is expected back as Carter. Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Juan Pablo Raba, Natalie Alyn Lind, Marc Menchaca and J.R. Villarreal are also likely to reprise their roles, although Paramount+ has not announced the complete cast.

Meanwhile, Ed Harris is expected to have a larger role, adding another major presence as the story shifts toward Carter’s rescue and the growing conflict with Mariano Reyes.
Although an official release date has not been announced, Dutton Ranch remains one of Paramount+’s biggest franchises, with Season 2 expected to expand the story of Beth, Rip and the Dutton family following its record-breaking debut.
