HMD Skyline 2 Leak Reveals Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Chip Ahead of the Official Launch
HMD Skyline 2 is nearing launch and a new leak suggests a major processor upgrade for the company’s next premium mid-range smartphone. Now the device is said to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset instead of the older Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 as was rumoured. The leaked information also hints at upgraded cameras, faster charging and a brighter display, although HMD has not officially confirmed the phone or its final specifications.

Skyline 2 is also expected to offer better gaming, multitasking, photography, and on-device AI performance with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. The platform delivers 7 percent better graphics performance and 7 percent better CPU performance over the previous generation, Qualcomm says. The Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform also powers on-device generative AI, select Snapdragon Elite Gaming™ features, AI-assisted camera processing, and displays with refresh rates up to 144Hz.
Camera System Could Get Major Upgrade
Recent days have seen leaked specifications and images that hint at the Skyline 2 sporting a 108-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilisation, a 50-megapixel telephoto camera, and an upgraded 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. It is also expected to feature a 50-megapixel selfie camera. The same report also calls for 8GB or 12GB RAM, 256GB of internal storage and microSD card support, making for a solid camera and storage package for a mid-range Android phone.
Faster Charging, Dedicated Camera Button Expected
There are also rumours that the Skyline 2 will bump wired charging speeds from 33W on the original model to 40W, while still supporting Qi2 magnetic wireless charging. Other leaked features include USB-C 3.2 support, stereo speakers and a dedicated physical camera capture button. This combination could make photography faster and convenient. Magnetic wireless charging still is one of the most unique features of the Skyline series.

The original Skyline gained notoriety for offering full magnetic Qi2 support when the feature was still rare on Android phones. Qi2 allows compatible phones to magnetically snap into place with chargers and supported accessories. A Skyline 2 that continues with this feature would give HMD a distinct edge in the competitive mid-range market, especially for those users that are enthusiastic about magnetic charging stands, battery packs and other accessories.
