Chronoswiss Opus Dakar Sundown and Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloché Gold Watches Officially Revealed
Chronoswiss Opus – Chronoswiss has designed two special editions for its luxury watch line: the Opus Dakar Sundown and the Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloché Gold. Both watches use red gold to give a warm and luxurious look, but they represent two very different sides of the Lucerne-based watchmaker.
Stainless steel and 18 carat red gold combine in the Opus Dakar Sundown, a skeletonised chronograph taking its cue from the colours of a desert sunset. The Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloché Gold has a more modern aesthetic, featuring an 18-carat gold case and a black rubber strap, dual-time functionality and an unusually textured hand-crafted dial.
Opus Dakar Sundown Blends Desert Inspiration With Skeletonised Mechanics
The Opus Dakar Sundown is powered by a 41mm two-tone case made of stainless steel and 18K red gold. Its visual identity is strongly based on desert colours, with a skeletonised dial that exposes the mechanics underneath, all in a combination of brown, gold and sand-inspired tones.
The chronograph has four clearly defined sub-dials. At 12 o’clock, we find a 30-minute chronograph counter, at 6 o’clock a 12-hour counter, at 9 o’clock small seconds, and at 3 o’clock an analogue date display. Completing the adventure-inspired presentation is a sand-coloured Nubuck leather strap.
Vivo X300 FE Camera Review Reveals How It Performs in Daylight Low Light and Portrait ShotsC.741S Movement, A Tradition of Opus Chronograph
Inside the Opus Dakar Sundown is the automatic Chronoswiss Calibre C.741S, a heavily modified and skeletonised chronograph movement. The movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of around 46 hours.
The finishing includes elements such as Côtes de Genève decoration, polished parts, perlage and dark galvanic treatments. These details are particularly important as much of the movement is on display across the open dial architecture.
The 41mm watch has a multi-part case construction, a curved sapphire crystal and Chronoswiss design signatures like the onion-shaped crown and prominent chronograph pushers.
Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloché Gold Gets a Modern Update
The Pulse GMT Frosted Guilloché Gold is the more modern of the two-watch release. The watch has a 41mm 26-part case in 18K 5N red gold and is 13mm thick and 46.27mm from lug to lug. The precious-metal case has a number of brushed, polished and sandblasted surfaces that give it extra visual depth.
Unlike previous Pulse GMT watches fitted with metal bracelets, this edition comes with a new integrated black rubber strap. Combined, it gives the luxury GMT watch a sportier, less traditional character.
The time is indicated through a peculiar setup. The local hours are indicated on a 12-hour display at 3 o’clock, and the second time-zone indication is a 24-hour display at 9 o’clock. The centre has hands that show the minutes and seconds.
Frosted Guilloché Dials Bring Traditional Craftsmanship to Modern Watches
A defining characteristic of the Pulse GMT is its dial finish. First, the pattern is made by hand-guilloché work on a brass surface. Then a special sandblasting process is applied, with ultra-fine synthetic corundum particles. The process creates a surface with an iridescent, crystalline finish, but it retains the depth of the engraving pattern.
This treatment is symptomatic of a wider trend in independent watchmaking, where age-old decorative crafts are being married ever more frequently with modern case design, off-beat materials and sport-inspired elements. Blue accents, red gold and the black integrated strap contrast with the frosted dial in this model.
