America’s Got Talent Delivers One Final Audition That Leaves Viewers in Shock
The America’s Got Talent final audition episode wrapped up the audition rounds for Season 21, giving viewers one last chance to see a wide variety of performers battling for a spot in the next stage of the competition. One of the night’s most talked-about moments came from an impersonator who dressed up as judge Howie Mandel and introduced himself as “Howard Michaelando.” The bizarre comedy act quickly divided the judges. Howie Mandel liked the performance but Simon Cowell, Mel B. and Sofia Vergara were not impressed, and the act was sent home.
The country band The Sound also performed, and their show almost went wrong when a crew member accidentally walked on stage during a dramatic pause. Though interrupted, the group kept their cool, completed the song with confidence and earned four “yes” votes from the judges.
Judges Now Have the Task of Picking the Top 44
With the auditions officially over now, the focus is on selecting the contestants who will move forward. NBC’s new format says there are around 100 acts still in the running, but only 44 performers will make it through to the live shows.
A new Judges’ Callback Round will also be part of Season 21, where selected contestants get one last shot to perform before the final lineup is set. The change is designed to provide judges with more information to make decisions after an especially competitive audition season.
The selection process this year is one of the toughest in recent memory, following a season full of singers, dancers, comedians, magicians, aerialists and speciality performers. Next up is the callback round.
