Fortnite Cube Sprites Release Date Locations and Powers Revealed Ahead of the New Update

Fortnite Cube Sprites Release Date – Fortnite 39.40 update is now live after scheduled server maintenance, bringing one of the biggest content updates of Chapter 7 Season 1. Epic Games has launched the Love and Legends Valentine’s event, added the new Lock-On Assault Rifle, confirmed the return of The Seven, introduced a new Bigfoot boss, and announced several collaborations, making this update much larger than the previous 39.30 patch.

Love and Legends Event Headlines the February Update

The Love and Legends event will run throughout February and includes a packed schedule of in-game activities and rewards. Players can look forward to new rewards beginning February 6, Battle Royale Power Hour events on multiple dates, the return of Nitemare Island in Fortnite Reload on February 13, and the OG Ice Storm event with the new Ice King Remix skin on February 15. Epic has also confirmed the return of The Seven on February 23 alongside the upcoming Flowberry Mist item.

The update also expands Fortnite’s crossover lineup. Wave 2 of the K-Pop Demon Hunters collaboration adds Jinu and new Golden versions of Mira, Rumi, and Zoey, while Chappell Roan becomes the next Fortnite Festival headliner with exclusive skins, emotes, music items, and cosmetics. Teasers also hint at future collaborations featuring Marvel Rivals characters Luna Snow and Magik, along with Honkai: Star Rail characters Kafka and Blade.

New Weapons, Boss, Map Changes and Gameplay Updates

The gameplay side of the update introduces the new Lock-On Assault Rifle, allowing players to lock onto enemies, while the upcoming Flowberry Mist item will provide healing, shielding, concealment, and low-gravity effects. Players can also challenge the new Bigfoot boss to earn Bigfoot’s Flex SMG and a special Boss Kit that increases stamina, vitality, and enemy tracking.

Several gameplay systems have also been updated. South Park collaboration ends. Wonkeeland returns. Cartmanland is no longer available. Dark Harvester attacks players during matches with powerful energy blasts. Epic has also buffed a number of weapons including the Tactical Assault Rifle, Flex SMG, Tactical Pistol and Enforcer AR, while unvaulting fan favorites like Shockwave Grenades, the MK-Seven Assault Rifle, Wings of Icarus and Hunting Rifle. Meanwhile, items including Crash Pad Jrs., Slurp Juice, and several South Park-themed items have been vaulted as Fortnite moves into the next phase of Chapter 7 Season 1.

Vice – Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite Cube Sprites will release on July 23, 2026, during the weekly New Sprite Day event at 6:00 AM PT / 9:00 AM ET. Datamined information suggests there will be eight Cube Sprite variants, which grant the Overdrive effect to help players move faster through the Storm.

Games.gg – Cube Sprites are inspired by Kevin the Cube, one of Fortnite’s most iconic lore elements. The article also says Epic is expected to release new Cube Sprites in weekly batches rather than all at once, with Sprite Chests, Golden Fishing Spots, and eliminating players carrying a Sprite listed as additional ways to obtain them.

Gameren – Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 has also introduced a bunch of new Sprites alongside the Cube Sprites, such as Air, Seven, Batman, Water, Ghost, Demon, King, Aura, Zero Point and Pollo Sprites, all of which have their own passive perks. Sprite chests always hold a Sprite, but players might also find Sprites in regular chests, rare chests, Fishing Spots, Vaults, and other special locations. Players can carry a Sprite to use its passive ability, and permanently unlock it by extracting it at an Extract Point or with a Portable Extractor.

Beebom – Fortnite Update 39.40 went live on February 5, 2026, introducing the Love and Legends Valentine’s event, the return of The Seven via new story quests, and the Friendship Bubble Rift, which creates a temporary shielded area with low gravity. The update also added the Lock-On Assault Rifle, introduced Bigfoot as a new boss with unique rewards, expanded the Fortnite Festival with Chappell Roan as the headliner, and featured a variety of weapon balance changes, loot pool updates and map alterations.
