Dune 3 Trailer Reveals Timothée Chalamet Zendaya Jason Momoa and Giant Sandworms

Dune 3 Trailer has unveiled its latest and most detailed trailer, revealing a darker chapter of Paul Atreides’ story. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the upcoming sci-fi epic shows Paul struggling with the consequences of becoming emperor while facing political threats, personal conflicts, and the burden of his decisions.

The trailer was revealed by Villeneuve and Timothée Chalamet during a global IMAX fan event in Los Angeles. The event was also simulcast in major cities including Chicago, Dallas, Toronto, Montreal, London, Berlin, Mexico City, and Abu Dhabi. The trailer and an extended clip will also be shown before IMAX 70mm screenings of “The Odyssey.”

Paul Atreides Faces the Consequences of Power

Based on Frank Herbert’s novel “Dune Messiah,” “Dune: Part Three” takes place 17 years after the events of “Dune: Part Two.” The story explores Paul Atreides’ rule as emperor and the consequences of the violence created in his name.

Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul, showing a character who is more uncertain, emotionally affected, and burdened by his actions. The film focuses on the dangers of power and how even respected leaders can become corrupted.

Chalamet explained that “Dune Messiah” was created as a warning about blindly following charismatic leaders. The story questions whether a man with good intentions can still be destructive once he has gained unlimited power.

Paul’s relationship with Chani (Zendaya) gets more complicated. Paul’s marriage to Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh) affects their relationship. The movie delves into their emotional conflict, the balancing act of love versus duty under political pressure.

Robert Pattinson joins the cast as Scytale, a shapeshifter who plans to challenge Paul’s empire. His strategy includes sending a resurrected version of Duncan Idaho, known as Hayt, to confront Paul about his choices.

A Massive Final Chapter for Villeneuve’s Trilogy

The film brings back several major characters, including Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides.

A CinemaCon preview revealed that the movie opens with a huge war sequence featuring spaceships, storms, explosions, and Stilgar leading soldiers into battle. The scene shows the growing conflict across the galaxy and introduces the darker tone of the final chapter.

The trailer also gives the first look at Paul and Chani’s twins and shows Alia in an intense emotional moment. The footage ends with Chani summoning a sandworm, creating one of the trailer’s biggest highlights.

Villeneuve described “Dune: Part Three” as his most personal film in the trilogy. He explained that the first movie was more contemplative, the second focused on war, and the third will combine action with deeper emotional storytelling.

The first two “Dune” films earned $1.12 billion worldwide and collected 15 Oscar nominations with eight wins. “Dune: Part Three” will release exclusively in theaters on December 18, 2026, completing Villeneuve’s decade-long journey through Frank Herbert’s universe.
