Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Opens With 18 Minutes of New Gameplay

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will be released globally on July 9 and will feature a full remake of the classic 2013 title, with updated graphics, revamped combat, improved stealth mechanics and more story content. Ubisoft has confirmed global release timings, preload schedules, and platform availability for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The remake also removes the original multiplayer mode and first-person modern-day sections to keep the focus entirely on Edward Kenway’s pirate adventure.

New Combat, Stealth and Exploration Features

Set in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy, the remake takes place 13 years after the original release and follows Edward Kenway as he becomes caught in the Assassin and Templar conflict while searching for the mysterious Observatory. Ubisoft has modernized combat with hitbox-based mechanics, introducing Hidden Blade takedowns after perfect parries, chain takedowns, wall and ground executions, heavy attacks for every weapon, and new enemy types that require different strategies. Stealth has also seen huge improvements with the new ability to crouch anywhere, a visibility meter, destructible alarm bells, social stealth, smoke bombs and earlier access to the Rope Dart. Players can also dive underwater almost anywhere to find new shipwrecks, hidden treasure and expanded areas of exploration not in the original game.

Release Schedule, Platforms and Gameplay Improvements

Preloading began on June 22 for Xbox Series X/S, while PlayStation 5 and PC preloads started on July 7. Console versions unlock at 12:00 AM local time on July 9, while the PC edition launches simultaneously worldwide through Ubisoft Connect, Steam, Epic Games Store, GeForce cloud gaming, and Blacknut. Global PC launch times include 3:00 PM BST in London, 4:00 PM CEST in Paris, 10:00 PM CST in Shanghai, 11:00 PM JST in Tokyo, and 12:00 AM AEST on July 10 in Sydney.

The remake also introduces recruitable naval officers, replayable Legendary Ship battles, an expanded hideout with upgradeable buildings, passive income through Kenway’s Fleet, dynamic weather powered by the Atmos system, ray-traced lighting, Photo Mode, customizable HUD presets, and independent difficulty settings for combat, stealth, naval gameplay, and activities. Ubisoft also added a new endgame chapter called A World Without Gold, more Animus Rifts, 10 new sea shanties, and extra side quests starring Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet.

Ubisoft released the first 18 minutes of gameplay via IGN ahead of launch. It includes upgraded naval battles, improved lighting, realistic storm effects, and the opening sequence at Cape Bonavista in June 1715. The footage shows Edward’s early life before he became an Assassin, and the remake’s improved graphics and more cinematic presentation. Ubisoft also confirmed 60 FPS support on PlayStation 5 and the PS5 Pro version will include upgraded PSSR technology for better image quality.
