Oura Ring 5 Unveiled With 40% Smaller Design and New Health Tracking Features

Oura has officially announced the Oura Ring 5, edesigns in the company’s smart-ring lineup. The new wearable, announced on May 28, 2026, is 40% smaller than the Oura Ring 4 and still provides advanced health, sleep, activity, stress and recovery tracking.

‘The Ring 5 is only 6.09mm wide and 2.28mm thick,’ Oura said. To achieve the smaller form factor, the company didn’t just scale down the previous model’s dimensions, but re-architected the mechanical, electrical, optical, battery and sensing architecture. The result is a smart ring that’s made to feel more like traditional jewellery when worn 24/7.

40% Smaller Ring For More Discreet Style

The biggest hardware change is of course the smaller form factor. According to TechCrunch, Oura has also shaved around two millimetres from the ring’s width and cut the thickness by around 30% to bring about a design that is 40% smaller than the previous model.

The reduced size still offers titanium construction, and the Ring 5 is available from size 6 through 13. It is available in six finishes: Silver, Black, Stealth, Brushed Silver, Gold and Deep Rose. Silver and Black start at $399, with the premium finishes priced at $499.

More Prominent AI-Powered Health Insights in the Experience

The Oura Ring 5 is not only about smaller hardware. The company is also broadening its focus on AI-assisted health interpretation and proactive monitoring.

Oura is bolstering its platform with AI wellness features that are meant to help users make sense of health data, not just dump mountains of raw info on them, Wired reports. The bigger goal is to find meaningful changes and trends in sleep, recovery, activity, and other biometric signals.

This is part of a broader trend in wearables, with devices increasingly focused on personalised interpretation and early signs of health, rather than just counting steps or tracking workouts.

Adds new Health Radar, GLP-1 tracking features to its capabilities

Ring 5 platform helps users to track more than 50 health and wellness metrics. Healthline lists a number of new software features including a bigger Health Radar, blood pressure-related signals, nighttime breathing insights and a specific GLP-1 medication tracking feature.

The GLP-1 feature can aggregate information like medication dosing, side effects, weight changes and Oura health insights into one longitudinal view. Live Activity Tracking has been added, too, letting users start workouts in the app and see selected metrics in real time.

Oura also improved automatic activity detection for more than 40 activities, including lower-motion exercises like yoga and Pilates.

Smaller form factor, better sensors, longer battery life

One of the most interesting achievements of the Ring 5 is that the smaller body has not translated into shorter battery life. The new model can last up to nine days on a single charge, up from eight days for the last generation, Tom’s Guide found.

The article also notes the Ring 5 has four times more powerful LEDs, which have been moved around to increase sensing consistency. The ring still tracks heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature, movement, sleep, stress and recovery signals.

Oura Ring 5 Delves Deeper Into Mainstream Health Tracking for Smart Rings

The Oura Ring 5 lands as the smart-ring market continues to grow more congested. The Guardian’s review calls the new generation “a big leap forward, particularly for its lighter design, longer battery life and the ability to track a wide range of health signals without requiring users to wear a screen on their wrist.” Still, the combination of a jewelry-like design and continuous passive tracking remains one of the strongest advantages of the Ring 5. It’s more for sleep, recovery, stress and general wellness tracking than replacing a dedicated sports watch for serious athletes.

TechCrunch – The biggest hardware change is obviously the smaller design. TechCrunch reports that Oura has reduced the width of the ring by around two millimetres and decreased its thickness by around 30%, resulting in a design that is 40% smaller than the previous Oura.

Wired – Oura Ring 5 isn’t merely smaller hardware. The company is also expanding its focus to AI-assisted interpretation of health and proactive monitoring. Oura is expanding its platform with AI-powered wellness features that aim to help users understand health data, rather than just throwing lots of raw information at them, Wired reports. The broader goal is to find meaningful variations and trends across sleep, recovery, activity and other biometric signals.

Healthline – Platform can help users track more than 50 health and wellness metrics. Healthline has added new software features including an improved Health Radar, blood pressure alerts, nighttime breathing details and custom GLP-1 medication tracking. The GLP-1 feature can consolidate medication dosing, side effects, weight changes and Oura health insights into one longitudinal view. Live Activity Tracking has also been added, allowing users to start workouts from the app and view selected metrics in real time.

Tom’s Guide – One of the more interesting accomplishments of the Ring 5 is that the smaller body hasn’t equated to a shorter battery life. Tom’s Guide tested the new model to last up to nine days of battery life, compared to the previous generation’s up to eight days. The publication also says the Ring 5 has LEDs that are four times more powerful and moved to enable more consistent sensing. The ring still tracks signals such as heart rate, blood oxygen, skin temperature, movement, sleep, stress and recovery

The Guardian The Oura Ring 5 arrives amid rising competition in the smart ring space The Guardian’s review calls the new generation a “major evolution” particularly for its lighter design, longer battery life and ability to track a wide range of health signals without the need for users to wear a screen on their wrist. Jewelry-like design and constant passive tracking is still one of the Ring 5’s biggest advantages.
