One of the biggest highlights of San Diego Comic-Con weekend was the Bruce Dickinson, Billie Joe Armstrong Comic-Con performance. Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson made a surprise appearance during Billie Joe Armstrong’s set with his cover band, The Coverups. The two rock legends took to the stage to perform the classic “All the Young Dudes” at the annual Fandom Party, surprising fans in attendance.

The performance took place July 23 at FLOAT inside the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego during the unofficial Comic-Con kickoff party. The Coverups were already playing classic rock songs for the audience when Bruce Dickinson walked on stage out of nowhere to a huge reaction from the audience.
The surprise guest appearance soon became one of the weekend’s most talked-about moments, with videos circulating quickly on social media.
Why ‘All the Young Dudes’Was the Perfect Choice
The duo performed “All the Young Dudes,” a classic penned by David Bowie and popularised by Mott the Hoople in 1972.

Dickinson was already at Comic-Con, promoting his comic-book project, The Mandrake Project. The fact that he was there for the Fandom Party was a secret, which made the on-stage collaboration all the more memorable for fans.
Comic-Con has increasingly become a destination for exclusive concerts and celebrity appearances beyond comics and movies and this performance was a perfect example of that growing trend.
