Mercedes-Benz has introduced its latest flagship luxury SUV Mercedes Maybach GLS680, combining a stronger electrified V8 with a more expressive design and a cabin built around passenger comfort. The updated model is not a complete reinvention of the GLS formula. Instead, it adds carefully chosen improvements to styling, technology, ride quality, and personalization, strengthening Maybach’s position against the Bentley Bentayga and Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The SUV was presented at Mercedes-Benz’s new MANUFAKTUR hub in Beverly Hills and is scheduled to reach U.S. dealerships before the end of 2026.
2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 Raises the Luxury SUV Standard
The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 brings a new level of visual presence to Mercedes-Benz’s largest luxury SUV. A redesigned Maybach grille now features an illuminated surround and glowing Maybach lettering. Buyers can also choose an illuminated three-pointed hood star. Rose-gold headlight accents, chrome detailing, revised taillights, and illuminated running boards create a more theatrical arrival without changing the SUV’s familiar proportions.
New 22-inch wheels are standard, while optional 23-inch forged wheels use self-righting center caps that keep the Mercedes star upright as the vehicle moves. The color range also expands with Dark Petrol, Patagonia Red Metallic, and an exclusive Dark Petrol and Verde Silver Metallic two-tone finish. These choices support the wider MANUFAKTUR customization program for buyers seeking a more individual vehicle.
An Indulgent Interior
The cabin continues to prioritize comfort for both drivers and passengers. New upholstery combinations include Beech Brown and Macchiato Beige, while additional trim choices offer owners more freedom to personalize the space.

Power and Driving
A new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance produces 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. That represents an increase of 53 horsepower and 89 pound-feet over the current U.S.-market GLS 600. Added balance shafts are designed to reduce vibration and deliver the smooth power expected from a Maybach.
The engine works with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. A quicker steering ratio should improve response, while predictive AIRMATIC suspension can prepare the dampers for changing road conditions. Available E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL makes rapid adjustments to limit body movement and protect passenger comfort.
Price and Availability
Mercedes-Benz has not announced official U.S. pricing. The outgoing 2026 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 starts at $180,000, so the more powerful 2027 GLS 680 is expected to carry a higher base price. Production takes place in Alabama, with U.S. dealership arrivals planned for late 2026.
