Helldivers 2 x Warhammer: August Update Brings Meltaguns Bolt Pistols and More
The Helldivers 2 Warhammer 40K Warbond officially arrives on August 12, bringing the long-awaited collaboration between Arrowhead Game Studios and Games Workshop. Called Castellan’s Creed, it is the game’s third Legendary Warbond and is themed around the Astra Militarum, the ordinary soldiers of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The update is live on PS5, PC and Xbox, bringing new weapons, armor sets, cosmetics and a unique armor passive for support-focused players.
New Weapons, Armor and Exclusive Rewards
Castellan’s Creed introduces four major pieces of equipment. Players will get the R/40-K Hot-Shot Marksman Rifle as a precision primary weapon, the P/40-K Bolt Pistol as a powerful sidearm, the 40-K Meltagun support Stratagem for destroying heavily armored enemies, and the G/40-K Meltamine, a throwable proximity mine that can also harm teammates if used carelessly.

Both feature the exclusive True Grit passive, which increases weapon handling by 20 points and boosts support weapon reload speed by 30%. Players will also receive two themed capes, matching player banners, the Still Standing player title, and Castellan’s Green cosmetic patterns for the FRV, Exo Suit, Shuttle, and Hellpod.
Price, Availability and Why Space Marines Were Left Out
Arrowhead has not officially confirmed the Warbond’s price, but previous Legendary Warbonds have cost 1,500 Super Credits, making the same price widely expected. Players can purchase Super Credits or earn them through gameplay before the Warbond launches. Unlike standard Warbonds, Legendary Warbonds cannot be unlocked using Premium Warbond Tokens.
The devs also explained why the crossover is centered around the Astra Militarum and not the iconic Space Marines. According to Arrowhead, Space Marines are intentionally much stronger than Helldivers, and adding their armor would disrupt both gameplay balance and the identity of Helldivers as ordinary soldiers fighting overwhelming odds. By choosing the Astra Militarum, the crossover keeps both universes aligned while delivering authentic Warhammer 40,000-inspired equipment for players.

Tech Times – Although Arrowhead has not officially confirmed the Warbond’s price, Castellan’s Creed is widely expected to cost 1,500 Super Credits, matching the game’s previous Halo 3: ODST and Killzone Legendary Warbonds. At the current PlayStation Store pricing, 1,000 Super Credits cost $9.99, placing the expected value of the new Warbond at around $14.99. Players who do not want to spend real money will still be able to unlock it by earning Super Credits through normal gameplay before and after its release.
